CRM Real Cost: From Starting Price to Growth Cost

A scenario layer showing why a SaaS price should be examined across growth, minimum seats, add-ons and advanced requirements.

What this page adds: a scenario layer beneath the Real Cost Score. The score summarizes research; scenarios show how the economics change as a buyer grows.

Scenario model

ScenarioQuestionWhy it matters
EntryWhat is the realistic minimum for the intended use?Headline price can hide seat minimums or conditions.
Small teamWhat would a 3–5 person team actually pay?Minimums can change the effective per-user cost.
GrowthWhat changes at 10–25 users or higher usage?Growth thresholds often matter more than entry price.
AdvancedWhat happens when automation, reporting, AI or other advanced needs appear? The required plan may change the economics dramatically.

The new metric to add: Cost Shock

Cost Shock is an analytical metric, not a provider rating. It measures the percentage increase in effective recurring cost between two defined scenarios.

Cost Shock % = (Growth scenario annual cost − Entry scenario annual cost) ÷ Entry scenario annual cost × 100

Always publish the assumptions next to the percentage. A high Cost Shock is not automatically bad; it may reflect a buyer deliberately adding valuable capabilities.

The second metric: Commitment Cost

Commitment Cost is the estimated total subscription and material known extras over a defined period. It should never pretend to include unknown migration or implementation costs unless they are explicitly estimated.

Commitment Cost = subscription + known recurring extras + known one-time fees
